Methods of learning languages.

I think the Natural Approach is a good way to learn English. To support the brain, we have to communicate to each other. So, in the Natural Approach, students are reading and reading to passages. Students also learn the language by responding in writing and discussing among them. The problem with this method is students don’t have exercise in grammar, vocabulary and spelling. The teacher also doesn’t correct the students’ mistakes. However, I think that it is okay because the students soon will discover their mistakes by reading, listening and discussing a lot.

The importance influenced on me when I was a child

My grandfather was an important influence on me as a child. He was very strict and brave as he was an army before. For example, with his bravery, he was ready to do anything for the country and he fought the enemy for the sake of the country. Also, he did not afraid with the enemy in order to get the independence. I listened to his stories and felt very impressed with his bravery. I felt very lucky to have a grandfather like him because with his bravery, had taught me to always love our country and try to maintain this freedom for the next generation.

Rites of passage that I know about : the graduation ceremony- the UiTM’s graduation ceremony.

To give an appreciation to the students for finishing the studies, UiTM held a graduation ceremony for them. The venue of the ceremony is at the main hall of the university. The ceremony started with the attending of the parents to the main hall. The parents then take the seats. Then, the students, lectures and special guests entering the main hall with the slow music background which is a traditional song. Next, UiTM’s song and the National Anthem are singing. After that, one of the special guests gives the speech to the people. Then, the students name called and they walk across the stage. They will receive the certificate which symbolize that they had finished their studies successfully. At the end of the ceremony, the UiTM’s group of choir does the performance. Then, all the graduates keep their sweet memory by taking some pictures after the ceremony.
The most interesting event from my friends.

In my opinion, the most interesting event is from my friend, Syaima’. The event is her cousin’s wedding. What had attracted me to choose her event are the clothes that the people wear which is all blue in colour. That must be very nice. Most of the guests were coming in groups which I think really happening because the more, the merrier. All the guests were served with the buffet food. But I think, the most interesting part is the event was playing the love songs as the music background. That was really romantic especially to the bride and the groom who are really in love.

My memory that involved my parents teaching.

When I was 7 years old, my mother had taught me on how to wear my school shoes. It was really exciting since it was my first time wearing school shoes. My mother wanted me to wear the untied shoes but I refused to wear that. I wanted to wear the tied one. So, finally my mother had to follow my stubbornness. Then, she taught me patiently on how to tie the shoes. When I went to the school, I am really able to tie the shoes by myself since my mother was there to monitor me. But, when I am at school, I have to tie it by myself without my mother. Definitely I can’t do that. Then I started to cry because I can’t put my shoes on. I really didn’t remember what my mother had taught me. That was really my painful memory. After that day, until now, I will always bear in mind to not being too stubborn and always remember whatever my mother had taught.

JOURNAL WRITING : Rites of Passage

The rite of passage that I have participated is the Graduation Day. After my SPM result, all of the SPM students of my school will be invited for a graduation day. That’s mean that I have grown up and must be ready to be in the campus life. I was very happy on that day and I think not only me, but all of the students were happy too. We were wearing the graduation clothes and tassel; even we were not a university student yet. That was really happening and exciting for us. After the graduation, we will take some pictures so that the sweet memory will be memorable for us.

ACADEMIC WRITING: What important lesson did you learn from playing as a child?

When I was 10 years old, I learned a lesson about how we should care and love to animal. I have a pet that was very cute kitten named ‘Putih’. I named it like that because he was white in colour. I love him very much as I feed and bath him everyday. Sometimes, I even hug and sleep with him. As times goes by, he had grown up and didn’t play with me anymore. I also didn’t care for him anymore because I thought that he was not cute since he had grown up. Then, one day, I found out that Putih didn’t come home. Maybe that was normal for a cat like him leave home when they had grown up but I was so worried and regret for didn’t care for him anymore. I should love him even he had grown up. Until now, Putih didn’t show up. I was very sad. Now, I learned that we should care and love animals like we care for people.

• My favourite toy when I was child.
My favourite toy when I was a child was Lego – the bricks that can build everything. I was very happy since my 4th birthday when my dad gave me the Lego as my birthday present. I like to play Lego so much because with that, I can build anything that I want such as cars, houses and ships. I was so obsessed with my Lego till I never ever let anyone else borrow it or try to play with it except me. After playing, I will count my Lego to make sure that all of my Lego were enough and well-kept. Besides, I think Lego also had helped stimulate my brain since I think it is really good to do that when we were a child. So, I think, Lego was my very favourite toy when I was a child.

JOURNAL WRITING: my favourites advertisements

The Petronas advertisement for the festive season is touching. It is one of my favourites. It told about a single mother who have seven sons. It was already close to Hari Raya. The mother told all her sons to get the beef and the entire cow’s part but neither of his sons do that. The mother was so sad that her sons can’t even help him although there were seven of them. Realize their mistakes, they quickly rush off to the market, to the town but all of the beef were sold out. They are all gave up but then, they saw a cow that brought by a Singh boy. They decided to bring that cow to their beloved mother. At the end, they have made their mother touched. They were trying so hard just to make their mother happy celebrating Raya. I really like this ad because it really shows the love between the sons and a mother.

    · Something I learned about the secret of happiness in work.
I’m always hearing from someone that they hate their work. I don’t really know the reason but in my opinion, we should love our work as it is a part of our life or maybe our life! I’ve seen a lot of people that hate and love their jobs. I think, what important is we should find our talent, passion and strength. This three things are very important in order to make sure that you are very happy and enjoy in doing whatever your job is. Make sure you know what you love to do. That will lead us to the happiness in work as Maxim Gorky says, “When work is a pleasure, life is a joy! When work is a duty, life is slavery.” However, if we find that our job is something that we don’t like, you just try to love it. We have to always think positive. Don’t just keep hating your job. This is what we called as mindsets. Just sets your mind to think positive, try to love your work and accept whatever given to you because I believed that whatever happens, happen for a reason.

    · My experience with flow
Most of us experience with flow. Truly happy people experience it often. I have experience with flow. Actually I have done something that physically difficult that has leaded me to the experience with having flow in life. I was a red belt taekwondo holder but I didn’t manage to make it to the black belt because I’m too busy with the SPM at that time. But, I have got an opportunity to enter a taekwondo tournament once. That was very challenging for me as I have to face my opponents that were physically big than me. I have never felt nervous like that in life. Only god knows how much I afraid at that time. When I was fighting, I only think about winning. I only focus on what I want at that time. I don’t think about anything else. During my tournament, I felt time was passing very slowly. I have to fight in 20 minutes but I felt like hours! But, finally, after experience something that very challenges me, finally I got something from it. Although I only got silver, but I still feel satisfied for what I have done. The moment I have been given the medal at the podium, I felt very great as I can’t tell you how it is felt. It was something really hard to tell. No words can describe that. Maybe this is what we called as flow. You have to experience it yourself then you will know how great it is.

I am now studying Degree in Corporate Administration and Relation an USIM. Actually I didn’t expect to get this course and even this U! but I just accept whatever come to me as I believe that whatever happen, happen for a reason. I came from Accounting Matriculation program at the north, Perlis. I used to get an offer from the UiTM Perlis in Diploma Of Accounting before decided to go to the Matriculation program. But I refused to take the Diploma which is I think it is quite good actually but I have reject it. Then, when I was finishing Matriculation, I got an offer to attend an interview in Degree of Art and Graphic Design at UiTM Shah Alam but still, I refused to accept it. Art is my passion, but I don’t know why I reject that. And now, here I am in USIM. Actually, I was frustrated when thinking back all the offer that I have reject. But, as times goes by, I manage to accept the fate that I am belong to USIM. So, I want to study hard for my parents and family and for me, too. After I graduated, I want to work in a big company in Corporate sector. Then, at the same time, I want to set up my own business and also, my own art gallery which is my passion and my dream all this while. Art is really my passion. If I’m drawing and painting something, I couldn’t realize that time has passes so fast. So, I hope that I will got an opportunity to further my study in art so that I can combine my job that is business and my passion that is art. With that, I’m sure that I will be the person who is the most happiest in doing job.
